This Privacy Policy explains how the My KTU mobile application (the “App”), published by DuoNest (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles your information. My KTU is an unofficial student utility that helps students access their data from the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) portals more conveniently. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by KTU / APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
To provide its core features, the App asks for your KTU portal username and password. These are used only to sign in to KTU’s official portal on your behalf and retrieve your data. Your credentials are kept on your device in a signed access token and are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server with each request so it can fetch your latest data from KTU. We do not store your password in a user database and we do not use it for any other purpose.
When you use the App, it retrieves information associated with your KTU account, which may include your name, register/roll number, institution, branch, admission details, semester results, grades, SGPA/CGPA, curriculum and course details, activity points, and similar academic information. This data is shown to you in the App and cached on your device.
To deliver notifications, ads and to understand app usage, limited technical information is processed, such as a Firebase push-notification token, an advertising identifier, app-usage/analytics events, and general device information (for example device model and operating-system version).
If you contact us (for example using “Report an issue”), we receive the email you send, which may include your app version and any details you choose to provide.
Your personal and academic data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App removes this data from your device.
We do not operate user accounts and we do not keep a permanent, server-side copy of your credentials or academic records. When you open a screen, our server signs in to KTU, fetches the requested data, returns it to your App, and may keep a short-lived copy for a few minutes to speed up repeat requests before automatically discarding it.
The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

The App displays ads through Google AdMob. Advertising partners may use identifiers to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier and manage ad personalization in your device’s system settings (for example Settings → Google → Ads on Android).
Push notifications are opt-in. We only subscribe your device to notifications after you enable them in the App and grant the system notification permission. You can turn notifications off at any time from the App’s settings or from your device’s system settings.
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the third-party services listed above to the extent needed to operate the App, or where required by law. Your KTU credentials are shared only with KTU’s own portal (through our relay) to fetch your data.
Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and your KTU credentials are handled only to fetch your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information. You are responsible for keeping your device and KTU account secure.
The App is intended for university students and is not directed to children under 13. If you are a minor under the applicable age of consent in your region, please use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
